Dr. Jackson receives Socially Responsible Medical Award from Physicians for Social Responsibility- Los Angeles

September 21, 2012– Founded on the principle that we must “prevent what we cannot cure,” PSR-LA is committed to reducing threats to public health related to nuclear and environmental toxins. The Los Angeles chapter is the largest in the nation and has played a leading role in national, state, and local education and policy efforts. PSR-LA is needed now more than ever. As physicians and health care professionals, they address society’s root causes of illness and injury. Funds raised from the 2012 Gala Dinner will help them do just that.

Dr. Jackson, Chair of Environmental Health Sciences at UCLA and PSR-LA Board Member, is a renowned health expert who helped establish the California Birth Defects Monitoring Program and has impacted both state and national laws to reduce risks from pesticides, especially to farm workers and to children. He is also the host of a new public television series: “Designing Healthy Communities”.
